Coach Melissa Batie- Smoose, San Jose State volleyball coach was suspended after she complained against a transgender player Blaire Fleming. Batie-Smoose's complaint alleged that Fleming had met with Colorado State University' s Malaya Jones before a match in Fort Collins on October 3.

The plaintiffs include SJSU co-captain Brooke Slusser, assistant coach Melissa Batie-Smoose and two former Spartans players.
