An off-duty Irving police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash on Friday, the Irving Police Department said. The officer was identified as 38-year-old Jerome Scholz. The multi-vehicle crash happened along the 7800 block of Valley View Lane at Interstate Highway 635.

OHP said Harold Butler, 60, was driving when his rear tire blew and he lost control and crashed on the highway. Butler died on the scene and his passenger had several injuries and was hospitalized. Troopers said they were not wearing helmets.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office says one person is dead after a motorcycle crash. The crash happened around 4 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of the US 127 Bypass and US 68 (Lexington Road). Deputies say a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle collided.
